Shrine Information

A shrine is so designated by the authority of the local Bishop, because people have, for many reasons, chosen to pray there.

They may have found it a particularly rewarding place in which to pray. Perhaps it had been the scene of a miraculous happening or an apparition. Maybe it had been the residence of a very holy person with whom pilgrims liked to pray.

Whatever, the reason, the main influence is the desire of people to pray there.
